On Tuesday morning we had the opportunity of visiting the investment and consulting giant ShengJing360. for those who might not know - ShengJing360 is one of the largest investment firms, representing approximately 10% of the firms in china. On top of that, ShengJing has positioned itself as a valuable partner for Chinese companies looking to invest in outbound markets such as Europe, US and Israel. By location and by market share, the company is in the middle of the Beijing innovation scene. The company chose to focus on two main subjects regarding its connections to Israeli High-tech industry; cooperation's and investment options. The company is currently operating with several of the largest VC's in Israel. Looking for viable Startups in the Chinese market , ShengJing360 currently relies and trusts Israeli VC's and accelerators on finding the right ones. On top of finding companies viable to the local Chinese Markets, ShengJing360 also wishes to benefit from the investment opportunities in Israel. While other Mega companies such as Baidu are looking to make 2-3M dollar investment, ShengJing360 finds value in investing small seed funding. This strategy allows them to get it early on promising companies. On top of investing, ShengJing360 also hosts annual Innovation competitions, where first prize winners received up to 1.5M dollars. The company was very impressed with two Israeli Startups winning back to back two years in a row. When asked about due diligence work, ShengJing360 answered they conduct comprehensive research. Due diligence will many times include inquiry with local accounting firms, and even asking locals about the people working and operating the company itself. ShengJing360 was definitely one of the most impressive visits I had so far. Chinese companies have gone a long way both in cooperation, and knowledge about the Israeli eco-system. Increasing cooperation's in general, and for ShengJing360 specifically, shows that the two countries have many opportunities and benefits on the road ahead.
